🏠 Griha Pravesh Muhurat · गृह-प्रवेश
Moving into a new home is one of the classic muhurat occasions. Every date below cleared the classical griha-pravesh screens live — nakshatra, weekday and tithi.
About the griha pravesh muhurat
Griha pravesh — the first formal entry into a new home — is traditionally timed so the household begins under a stable, nourishing sky: the Moon in a fixed or gentle nakshatra (Rohini, the Uttaras, Anuradha, Revati and their peers), on a favourable weekday, avoiding rikta tithis and amavasya.
The engine screens all three limbs for every date in the next 90 days. For the ceremony itself, families usually enter in a shubh choghadiya of the chosen morning — our panchang page shows those windows for any city.

How these dates are chosen
Each day is screened on the three classical panchang limbs: the Moon's nakshatra must be on the griha pravesh list below, the vara (weekday) must be favourable for the activity, and the tithi must be clear — not rikta (4th, 9th, 14th of either paksha) and not amavasya. Dates clearing all three are shubh; two of three, acceptable.

This is day-level panchang screening — the same first pass a priest does. It does not fix the hour (lagna/choghadiya), weigh your personal chart, or apply regional month rules. For a ceremony, confirm the final window with your purohit; for a chart-personalised list, use the ₹199 report.
The muhurat report adds your personal Tara-bala and Chandra-bala screens on top of the panchang, grades every date, and arrives as a printable PDF.

Which month is good for griha pravesh?
Tradition favours Magha, Phalguna, Vaishakha and Jyeshtha months and generally avoids Chaturmas (roughly July–November) for a FIRST entry — though pooja-only entries happen year-round. The date list above applies the day-level screens; ask your priest about the month rule for your tradition.
What time of day should we enter the new house?
Morning, in a shubh or amrit choghadiya, is the common practice — sunrise to about 10:30 works for most weekdays. Check the choghadiya table on our panchang page for your city on your chosen date.
Can we do griha pravesh on a Saturday?
Saturday is not among the classically favoured varas for griha pravesh, which is why Saturdays don't appear as shubh here. If logistics force a Saturday, take a priest's guidance — a compensating pooja is the traditional answer.
When is the next griha pravesh muhurat?
The next shubh dates are 17 Aug, 20 Aug, 27 Aug — see the full 90-day table above, which updates continuously.
